Class Improvements

- Change Review Weeks to Planning Weeks: I like the idea of this change. I found that filling out the questionnaire about when we planned to do our work was helpful but in a lot of cases the canvas due dates did not line up with my plans. I would suggest moving the Monday reading to Sunday that way only 1 reading must be done during the week. I think this would be helpful to the students that do their work on the weekends.

-Expand the Story Planning Option: I loved when you implemented this option! I found it extremely helpful. Having this option allows for me to get the points for the week without having to write a story. I found that writing a story takes quite a bit longer than simply planning one. This helped on my busy weeks and ultimately led to me writing better stories.

The other three ideas I am not especially for or against.

Portfolio Introduction

Portfolio:

This is my favorite story that I have written and many people have told me it is my best work. This is a story inspired by "Elephant Stories" that I mixed with a little bit of OU football and I added a touch of Texas sucking. If you enjoy hearing about Texas losing then you will enjoy this story. Read "Never Trust a Longhorn" here.

This story is a play off "A Monkey King's Sacrifice" mixed with a bit of Nicolas Cage and some National Treasure. Naturally due to the mix of concepts I have named this story Nicolas Cage's Sacrifice.

This story is about a man named Stan. It was inspired by the story "Rama Wins Sita." It is about a man named Stan that use to live in a van but now is married to the princess and is heir to the king's throne.

Wikipedia Trails: From Anant Pai To Winston Churchill

Anant Pai: is an author I read about this week. He wrote many of the Jataka Tales comic books that I am reading. I learned through this search that he is considered the Walt Disney of India.

Tinkle: Is a magazine that Anant Pai was the founding editor for. This magazine included news, comics, and puzzles.

Prime Minister: The Prime Minister of India is a fan of the magazine Tinkle. A prime minister is the person that is most senior in the executive branch of government.

Winston Churchill: He was the prime minister for the United Kingdom. He played a crucial role in WWII and the politics surrounding the war.

Reading Notes: Ghanshyamdas Birla

A Builder of Modern India
This comic book starts by telling the past of his father and how he humbly made a name for himself and his family. When GB was born he was raised with a normal childhood despite his family being wealthy. After he finished school he went to secondary school but ended up quitting and going to work in the family business. At the age of 13 he decided to expand the operation on his own. He was successful at this and life was good until one day his mother became sick. This was a hard time for GB until he met Gandhi one day. Gandhi became a mentor to GB. GB eventually became a leader for business in India.

Reading Notes: Anant Pai

Anant Pai
This book describes the great storyteller that Anant Pai was. He was born in 1929 which was the year Tarzan came out. this comic tells the life story of Anant and the struggles that his family went through. It talks about the great teacher he had while he was in college and how he helped shape Anant. This comic shows his slow growth to becoming famous for his comic books. It describes the struggle he went through to become India's most known writer. I found this comic very intriguing because I have been reading a lot of Anant's work. I do not think that this would be a good comic to write about because it is so matter of fact.

Learning Challenge: Be as Happy as Kevin

This is a video of Kevin Garnett after he wins his first NBA Championship. To me this is the picture of absolute happiness. This is a man who has been in the NBA for like 15 years and finally has won a ring. After all his effort his childhood dreams come true. This video inspires me to work harder everyday to achieve my goals.
