Our Family Home
When I was young my grandparents owned a cabin in the woods.
Every year my sister and myself would wait all year to go back to this cabin
with our family. We loved to explore the woods and find some of the forests
hidden mysteries. My sister, Beth, and me liked to hangout in the abandoned
laboratory where scientist use to test different things. The worst part about
traveling to the abandoned laboratory was fighting off the massive angry birds
that would attack us on the way. I always assumed these angry birds were very
hungry because the worms they ate weren’t enough to fill them up. Contrarily,
Beth thinks these birds are so angry because they are descendants of birds that
were directly effected by the nearby nuclear fallout that happened many years
ago. I wished we could go to the area where the fallout was but my mother, Lucy,
said we should not go to that neck of the woods because there is a viscous ogre
that resides nearby. Another one of Beth and my favorite places to visit was
the old mine shaft that is northwest of the cabin. There are so many different
routes that we would travel in the shaft. In some of the tunnels we could even
find some small diamonds that were left after the miners left. Eventually, we
had to stop going to the mine shaft because the Japanese soldier that still
thought the war was going on tried to attack Beth and me one day. The Soldier
ran after us as we left the mine and was screaming at us. We were eventually
able to outrun him but Beth told Lucy what happened that night and Lucy said we
can’t go back there. Once me and Beth graduated from high school my
grandparents sold the cabin and we haven’t been back.

This story does a really good job of describing and setting the scene that every kid or child of some sort goes through. There are always many adventures involved and learning lessons along the way. Some of the lessons may to be to listen to your parents about where not to go because they care about your own good and safety. In most instances, the child memories or places seem to fade away because of maturity or growth. Overall, I enjoyed this story and was a great read.
ReplyDeleteI found this story really entertaining! All the different fantasy aspects in one story made it really fun to read. I found it intriguing to think about going to visit one’s grandparents and being in a magical place like this. I especially liked the part about the Japanese soldier as a variation of this has actually happened in the past.
